Vanquish E3 2010

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Platinum Games’ (Bayonetta, Mad World) latest game, Vanquish, is a third-person shooter featuring a cover system similar to Gears of War and the ability to slow down time. Looks pretty interesting, I like the jet pack allowing the player to move quickly to get under cover. Also, an important warning. Elect a female president and next thing you know San Francisco is gone and Russia has a robot army.

Journey Announced

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Journey is a new game from thatgamecompany, the creators of PSN titles Flower and Flow. It’s an “online adventure experience”, not sure exactly what that means, but it looks totally awesome. Journey is currently scheduled for release on the PS3 sometime in 2011.

Bulletstorm E3 Walkthrough Trailer

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

The guy playing the game is great.

“Right, so you hit him in the family jewels, he’s in pain…”

“…leash the guy, kick him in the ass, shoot the ass, and get the fire in the whole reward.”

“Sir, you need to die. Thank you.”

February 22, 2011 can’t come soon enough.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II E3 Trailer

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Probably the best trailer I’ve seen out of E3 this year. I didn’t play the first game and had no intention of playing the second until watching this, which kind of sold me on the idea. Did Vader really expect like seven storm troopers to kill him?

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine E3 Trailer

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

A third-person action-RPG game set in the Warhammer 40K universe and developed by Relic. Seems awesome.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising E3 Trailer

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

This trailer is totally Lightning Bolt Action. I cannot wait to cut up watermelons.

Portal 2 E3 Trailer

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Easily one of my top ten games gets a totally awesome E3 trailer. Judging by the video, I like where they’re going, with the run down, partially destroyed areas overgrown with plants…looks sweet.

Also interesting that Gabe Newell announced this at Sony’s event, saying the PS3 will have the best version.

Medal of Honor E3 Multiplayer Trailer, Beta June 21

Monday, June 14th, 2010

According you this you have to pre-order to get a beta key so…good and bad.

That music though…I don’t know.

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Sure, it took a decade but Capcom has officially announced a sequel to (in my opinion) the awesomest fighting game, ever. Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds features the same 3 on 3 battles as the previous game and is scheduled for a spring 2011 release on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Confirmed characters (based on the video):

PS3 Error 8001050F Fixed

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Playstation 3’s every where stopped working starting Sunday when a mysterious “Error: 8001050F” started occurring. The error prevented users from going online, as well as playing certain games offline. It affected all PS3 models except the newer slim PS3. From Sony:

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game.”
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

For the latest status on this situation please check either the PlayStation blog (blog.us.playstation.com) or PlayStation.com.

Embarrassing. Well, apparently the problem was the older model PS3’s thought 2010 was a leap year. Big mistake, computers can’t handle that kind of stuff.

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

Good news for all PS3 owners out there.
