In a recent interview with Guardian, Will Wright confirmed that Spore was coming to the Wii:
We’re doing Spore on the Wii, and we did MySims. It takes signifcant. PS3 and Xbox 360 are similar enough that you can. So it comes down to what the interesting major platforms are and which markets we want to hit.
That’s interesting news, especially the “It takes signifcant” part because I have no idea what that means. This is the first I’ve heard that Spore was coming to any system but the PC (there is the DS version of Spore, but I didn’t really consider that the same game as the PC version, I don’t know why, I just didn’t). Good news for the Wii, too. I think Spore would be a great fit for the system. No word on a time line or anything, but still very interesting.
Wright also talked about how much he liked the Wii and DS, and totally burned the PS3 and Xbox 360, saying “we’ve got an Xbox 360 collecting dust in the background”, among other comments. That Will Wright…such a zany guy. According to Wright, the PS3 and Xbox 360 are just upgraded versions of the PS2 and Xbox, just better graphics really. I thought that was the point, but what do I know.
