Publisher ATLUS and developer Studio Zero have revealed additional details about their upcoming fantasy RPG game, Metaphor: ReFantazio. The creative team behind the project boasts the creators of Persona 5, which has garnered worldwide acclaim and sold over 6.4 million copies. In their new endeavor, director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro aim to bring players on an immersive journey that combines unique character design, beautiful world construction, and innovative sound and game mechanics.
In Metaphor: ReFantazio, players will explore an exciting world where the fight against personal anxiety serves as the central theme. The game mechanics integrate real-time action and turn-based commands and allow party customization through “Archetypes” for a personalized gaming experience. Drawing from the Persona series’ calendar system, the game will provide a sensation of travel as adventurers traverse the world in their party’s gauntlet runner.
The game is set in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a nation comprising three countries inhabited by eight tribes. This fantasy world introduces discrimination-free environment where the inhabitants inherently accept each other. Though characterized as a fantasy world, it’s designed to represent the fantasies of the people who live within it, offering a unique perspective where fantasy and reality intersect. The game promises an exceptional journey accentuating fighting personal anxiety and inclusivity.
