The start of 2024 is set to be an exciting time for gamers, with a plethora of role-playing games, including Unicorn Overlord, slated for release. This upcoming tactics RPG is igniting interest, particularly for fans of fantasy tactics games. Developed by Atlus and Vanillaware, known for stunning art and side-scrolling action in games like Odin Sphere and Muramasa, Unicorn Overlord, revolves around the story of Alain, an exiled prince preparing to rise against the nation of Zenoira. Recent updates reveal a heavy emphasis on attributes loved by tactics fans, such as classes, abilities, promotions, and the addition of elven characters.
This latest update involves elven allies who can be recruited for Alain’s cause including Eltolinde, Rosalinde, and Ithilion who have their own individual plots surrounding Zenoira’s invasion of Elheim. The leaks also unveiled more about the adversaries in Unicorn Overlord, which includes Alcina, a witch aligned with the Zenoiran army, and a masked wizard named Baltro, both serving Galerius.
In Unicorn Overlord, every character has a specific class that defines their behavior and role in the battlefield. These classes range from frontline warriors to magic-wielding fliers, and each has a unique appearance too. Over 60 classes will be available, providing both strengths and weaknesses to bring balance to the game. Unique features such as Werewolves performing better at night or Elven Fencers creating protective barriers for allies are incorporated. Units are led by a leader character which imparts a “Leader Effect”, granting additional benefits based on the leader’s class.
