Mojang is preparing to launch version 1.21 of Minecraft and with it, a new mob character named ‘bogged’. The skeletal creature, which shoots poison-tipped arrows and can be found in the game’s swamp-like areas, was announced on Valentine’s Day. Players can familiarize themselves with this new addition by testing it in snapshots, essentially beta tests for new Minecraft features. Instructions on how to install a snapshot and enable a Minecraft: Bedrock Edition preview/beta is detailed on the game’s website.

Since its alpha release in 2009, Minecraft has recorded over 300 million sales and is still counting in late 2023. Its continuing success and relevance in the gaming industry speaks to the franchise’s durability and popularity. However, gamers’ responses to new updates and features vary, with some excited and others unsure if new elements like ‘bogged’ will reignite their interest.
