11 Bit Studios has revealed that the sequel to their popular 2018 survival city builder game, Frostpunk 2, will debut on July 25, 2024, and is now available for pre-order in a deluxe edition that includes beta access. Following on from the original game, which revolved around creating and managing a city amidst a crippling ice age, Frostpunk 2 takes place 30 years later and broadens the focus to more expansive and faction-riddled cities. The game’s latest trailer, despite lacking in new information, teases the large-scale cities and showcases the Deluxe Edition’s perks such as early access to story mode and post-launch DLC, an artbook, a novella, a soundtrack, and beta access seven days ahead in April.
The prequel to Frostpunk 2 intrigued fans of survival city builders despite its replayability limitations. However, Frostpunk’s high standing among similar games is expected to pique interest in the sequel.
Open for play from day one on PC Game Pass, Frostpunk 2 will be launched on July 25, 2024 for PC, and subsequently on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, showcasing the challenges of large-scale city management against the backdrop of a post-ice age world.
