Atlus, the game developer renowned for its Persona games and JRPG genre offerings, has announced the official release date of October 11 for its latest title “Metaphor: ReFantazio.” The development team comprises several Persona veterans, including director Katsura Hashino, paving the way for what could be the advent of a significant new franchise for Atlus and its publisher, Sega. “Metaphor: ReFantazio” is now available for pre-ordering on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with a collector’s edition for ardent Atlus fans.
Pre-orders for the “Metaphor: ReFantazio” come with additional in-game content, such as the Archetype EXP Chest Set and Adventurer’s Journey Pack. The game’s plot revolves around the player seizing the throne following the assassination of the previous ruler. The unique aspect of this fantasy game is that monarchy isn’t hereditary, but any individual can, through public support, ascend the throne. With a mix of real-time action and turn-based combat, players master ‘Archetypes,’ which are powerful abilities that morph characters into various classes, each equipped with unique skills for battle.
“Metaphor: ReFantazio” incorporates a ‘Follower’ system that is quite similar to Persona’s ‘Social Link’ mechanism, allowing players to build relations with characters met during the journey and unlock new Archetypes. The game will be available for play on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S starting October 11.
