Shift Up, developer of the hit game Stellar Blade, has revealed that it is developing a new game titled Project Witches. The game, described as an “AAA urban sci-fi action RPG”, is scheduled for release in 2027 and will reportedly be cross-platform and next-gen compatible. While limited information has been released about Project Witches, the developer has suggested that it may also be considering a sequel to Stellar Blade and a PC port, as the original game is currently limited to PlayStation 5.
In addition to these projects, Shift Up has announced plans to expand its workforce from 2025 and “scale up development of new projects”. The company is also expected to construct a new office. There have been positive reviews for Stellar Blade, although it has also courted controversy due to the inclusion of art referencing racist language, which was removed through a day one patch.
The game also faced criticism from an executive at EA Japan for being allowed an uncensored release by the Japanese video game ratings board. These details were revealed in a securities filing and relayed by a translated article from Yonhap News Agency, as well as information posted on the game’s hiring page.
