Developer Sting has launched a remastered version of Riviera: The Promised Land on iOS and Android platforms in Japan, retailing at 2,800 yen. This release comes after the Nintendo Switch version was made available in February 2024, and a PC version is still in the pipeline. Though a western launch has not been confirmed, Sting has a history of international releases, as demonstrated by last year’s worldwide launch of its Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone remaster.
Originally released in Japan in 2002 for the WonderSwan Color, Riviera: The Promised Land is a Norse mythology-inspired game, marking the first title in the Dept. Heaven series. The game was subsequently tweaked for the Game Boy Advance and PlayStation Portable. North America saw the distribution of the Game Boy Advance version, while the PlayStation Portable version reached European players.
The storyline revolves around Ein, a Grim Angel battling against demons and fellow Grim Angels. He is flanked by heroines Fia, Lina, Serene, and Cierra, along with a feline sidekick named Rose. The game incorporates dating simulation characteristics and unfolds into multiple endings.
