During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced the return of a classic, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, for Nintendo Switch in 2025. This is not the first time the game has been revamped; it was originally released on Nintendo Wii in 2010 and was later welcomed by the 3DS platform in 2013. The 2025 Nintendo Switch release, scheduled for January 26th, is met with anticipation by fans who enjoyed previous versions.
The upcoming release is not merely a reissue. It boasts a fully remastered HD version of the game’s Wii edition, enriched with bonus levels from the 3DS version, amounting to a total of 80 levels for fans to explore. Nintendo promises that this version will offer an improved and definitive take on the classic game.
In Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, just like the original, gamers can play alone or with a partner in the local co-op mode. While it remains technically an old entry, the enhanced features bring a new flair that classic gaming fans can look forward to experiencing.
