The release of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker in December 2021 was remembered for its technical difficulties and hours-long login queues due to server issues. This was caused by an unprecedented number of players who logged in to play the final installment of the Hydelyn-Zodiark saga.

As the next expansion, Dawntrail, is soon to be launched, the game’s developers assure players that they have taken “precautionary measures” to prevent a repeat of the Endwalker launch experience. The measures include increasing the number of data centers, creating new worlds for players to explore and possibly experience queues upon accessing it, and also prioritizing subscription players over those playing the free trial. Players are also advised to avoid creating characters on a congested world for now.

Despite these efforts, players may continue to experience some restrictions after the launch. These include traveling restrictions between data centers and other worlds, limited movement between in-game regions, and the automatic logout after 30 minutes of inactivity. The developers have also implemented a queuing system for instanced duties and separated instances for areas of the map to accommodate the potential high traffic. In short, steps have been taken to avoid the technical issues experienced during Endwalker, but some difficulties may still arise.
