In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Sony is launching a special PlayStation bundle. Renowned for its accurate PlayStation reports, industry insider Billbil-kun has shared some speculative pricing for the 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim bundle and ergonomically upgraded DualSense controller.
Firstly, the unique PS5 Slim bundle is expected to be priced at an affordable $499.99. Eurozone gamers are predicted to pay around €519.99, while UK players are looking at prices of about £449.99. Complementing the console, the exclusive DualSense 30th Anniversary controller will reportedly retail at $79.99 – the same price as the fresh off the press Astro Bot variant. The prospective Euro and pound sterling prices for this controller are €79.99 and £69.99 respectively.
Sony, just last week, officially revealed new editions of PS5 and PS5 Pro. The look of these gaming consoles draws inspiration from the design of the original PlayStation, which made its debut on December 3, 1994. Embracing nostalgia in a novel way, Sony incorporated the vintage PlayStation color scheme into the modern PS5 line, creating a limited edition series. However, it’s worth noting that the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection is expected to be in extremely short supply.
The 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition comes packed with a specially designed PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console with 1TB SSD, alongside customized versions of standard accessories. These include a DualSense wireless controller and Console Cover for a Disc Drive, for which the disc drive needs to be purchased separately. To make it more appealing, Sony offers a Vertical Stand and an array of collectors’ items, such as unique PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing, distinct PlayStation Shapes cable ties, custom PlayStation sticker, Limited Edition PlayStation Poster coming in 30 different designs, and even a themed PlayStation Paperclip.
While exact pricing for items, such as the PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle, the PlayStation Portal Remote Player – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition and the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller is still unknown, consumers should keep a keen eye out for September 26 when pre-orders are set to kick off through PlayStation Direct.
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection is scheduled for release on November 21. Only 12,300 units of the PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle will be up for grabs, exhibiting limited edition numbers etched onto the console itself, signifying the historical date – the month and day – of the original PlayStation’s launch.
Earlier this month, the PS5 Pro, which was rumored for several months, was officially announced. This console, expected to cost $700, does not include a disc drive and has a launch date set for November 7. Its price tag caused quite a stir among PlayStation enthusiasts. Although refurbished PS5s will be sold at half the price of a PS5 Pro, and PS5 Disc Drive sales are on the rise following the announcement, the price point did dissuade a significant number of customers, with only about 10 to 15 percent of poll respondents indicating a possibility of purchasing the console due to its high costs.
