The gaming community was buzzing with anticipation during the September 2024 edition of the widely-reviewed State of Play event. The biggest and most ecstasy-fueled surprise of the event remained the unmasking of a remastered anthology of the renowned Japanese RPG series: Lunar. Now rebranded as the Lunar Remastered Collection, it is set to be launched globally in the Spring of 2025 by its originating company, GungHo.

Adding more suspense to this grand revelation, GungHo’s Asca Akiyama took it a step further by publishing a teasing snippet of what to expect from the remasters on the PlayStation.Blog. This remastered collection, as projected, will feature largely the two primary entries of the Lunar series, The Silver Star and Eternal Blue, to be more precise. The actual games slated for the remastering treatment are Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete. These are the essential versions that were significantly boosted right from their original Sega CD releases for the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation.

The blog post provides an array of fascinating details about the vibrant novelties coming to the remaster. To the amazement of all gamers, these innovations range from widescreen support and amplified pixel art to HD animated cutscenes, and even freshly recorded English voice acting. Moreover, gamers would love the new toggle feature, which gives the option to switch between ‘original’ or ‘remastered’ settings or a turbo-mode toggle for a speeded-up battle experience. Adding to the excitement is the availability of this collection in not just English and Japanese but also in German and French.

To the ecstasy of the gaming universe, shortly after the captivating State of Play episode came to an end, GungHo dropped another bombshell. Through their X account, they announced that the Lunar Remastered Collection would be up for grabs, not just on PlayStation 5 and 4, but on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, along with PC via Steam.
