Square Enix, the renowned game developer, has declared the completion of the narrative for the third and culminating segment of its acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. During a recent interview, both Yoshinori Kitase, the Final Fantasy series producer, and Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, shared their enthusiasm about the ongoing development of this much-anticipated endgame.

Kitase expressed his satisfaction with the unfolding storyline. Tetsuya Nomura, the creative director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, had given him the challenging task of making sure fans of the series would appreciate the concluding leg of the narrative journey as an ode to the original game and a new adventure encompassing unexplored levels of gaming experience.

Currently, the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is unnamed and lacks an official release date. The challenge of living up to the original Final Fantasy 7 story and providing a new gaming thrill for the fans has been brought to the forefront by Kitase.

In June 2022, Square Enix revealed their venture to release the Final Fantasy 7 Remake as a trilogy. The announcement came following the unveiling of the first game, leaving the audience to ponder whether the complete narrative could authentically be rendered through a dozen sequels. This suspicion traced its roots to the fact that the first game had only adapted the introductory hours, barely scratching the surface of the original game – only until the cast departs from Midgar.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, however, broadened the horizons significantly, incorporating an open-world format and providing an ampler narrative canvas featuring locales such as Costa del Sol, the Golden Saucer, amongst others, and a few newly coined ones. The storyline now mirrors the end of Disc 1 of the original Final Fantasy 7 – the close shot of arguably the most iconic moment in video game history.

The third part promises an immediate pick-up from this iconic moment, although little is currently known about its chronicle. The development of this final part launch in June 2022, but no firm conclusion date has been announced. Square Enix has vaguely slated 2027 as the anticipated release year for Part 3.

A compelling proclamation from the developers is their affirmation to stay alert to the Highwind airship’s character. In the original game, the Highwind airship enabled swift travel around the virtual map. However, the swift travel concept, now surging in latest gaming projects, posed a challenge to the iconic aircraft’s potential in-game role. Hamaguchi assured that the developers would not deviate from the authenticity of the airship system in Part 3, fully embracing the challenge of enabling free travel across the gaming map.

The second installment, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, earned rave reviews: the expert critics applauded it as an “outstanding action role-playing game, replete with thrilling challenges.” Additionally, it was revered as a tribute to a gaming world that has held immense significance for countless gaming enthusiasts for an extended period. The high hopes and anticipation of fans worldwide now rest on the final installment of this trilogy.
