Nintendo has recently announced that the highly anticipated second version of their popular handheld gaming console, the Nintendo Switch 2, is set for pre-order in the United States on April 24, 2025. This proclamation addresses the previous postponement, which came as a result of import tariffs imposed by the then-President Donald Trump. The initiation of pre-orders was originally scheduled for the start of April.
Excitingly for gaming aficionados, Nintendo reiterated their commitment to maintain the original price point of the Nintendo Switch 2. Gamers can secure the standalone console for $449.99. For those interested in enhanced gaming experience right out the gate, there is a bundle set available that includes the console and Mario Kart World for a price tag of $499.99. Interestingly, amid this price confirmation, Nintendo also made it clear they might engage in “price adjustments”, which are dependent upon fluctuating “market conditions”.
Nintendo extends this price assurance to cover two flagship games designed for the Nintendo Switch 2. The company is sticking to its initial plan of selling the title “Donkey Kong Bananza” for $69.99. Scheduled to release on July 17, 2025, this price point sits around $10 higher than most new game copies. On a similar note, customers who choose to purchase Mario Kart World separately from the bundle offering will have to shell out $79.99. Comparatively, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available for $59.99.
While a commitment to price stability is welcomed by gamers, this may not be possible across all Nintendo product lines. Particularly, products such as the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2 controllers, Wheel Sets, the Switch 2 Camera, and the Dock Set could see different price points, owing largely to external economic factors like tariffs. For transparency, Nintendo shared an updated price list for the said accessories on April 18, 2025. The prices, as of this update, are as follows:
– Joy-Con 2 Pair: $94.99
– Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip: $39.99
– Joy-Con 2 Strap: $13.99
– Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set: $24.99
– Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter: $34.99
– Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case: $84.99
– Nintendo Switch 2 Camera: $54.99
– Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector: $39.99
– Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set: $119.99
– Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller: $84.99
– Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch 2: $59.99
Finally, Nintendo has confirmed the official launch date of the much-awaited Nintendo Switch 2. The gaming console will hit stores on June 5, 2025. As stated earlier, the standard Nintendo Switch 2 will cost gamers $449.99, with an additional $50 fee for the Mario Kart World bundle, bringing it to a total of $499.99.
