Square Enix has launched a fresh trailer for their upcoming reinvigorated versions of the classic games, ‘Dragon Quest I&II HD-2D Remake’. This trailer, which spans over four minutes, primarily focuses on the new features and content incorporated in their remakes of the pioneer ‘Dragon Quest’ games.

In the remake of the first game, players can anticipate interacting with newfound characters, exploring novel dungeons, and unwrapping more comprehensive story elements. An interesting new feature is the addition of Sigils. This specially originated development from the second game now enhances certain attacks and spells. Furthermore, both games will now include Scrolls, allowing players to acquire new skills. On top of this, the remakes introduce Mini-Medals, which are common in the newer series. Players can trade these in for various rewards.

The remake of ‘Dragon Quest II’ goes even further by allowing players to tread the ocean floor. This is met with the appearance of exotic monsters and new, immersive story elements. This remodeled version also introduces a new playable character and a tombola mini-game for players to enjoy.

The ‘Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake’ will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 from October 30, 2025. The ‘Dragon Quest I-III’ retro games form the foundation of the ‘Dragon Quest’ series’ Erdrick trilogy. ‘Dragon Quest III’, which received a HD-2D Remake last year, precedes the events depicted in the first two games. The first ‘Dragon Quest’ initially saw its release for the NES/Famicom in Japan in 1986 and later in North America in 1989. ‘Dragon Quest II’, on the other hand, first went to the public for NES/Famicom in 1987, and made its debut in North America in 1990.

The original trailer for the ‘Dragon Quest I&II HD-2D Remake’ has been shared on YouTube.
