It’s official – the much-anticipated Sigma Star Saga DX is set to launch on April 7 and will be available on platforms such as PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). The release kicks off with a digital version, priced at $19.99, with physical copies expected to become available courtesy of Limited Run Games at a later date.
The original Sigma Star Saga made its entrance to the gaming world via the Game Boy Advance back in 2005. Now, an enhanced version takes the stage, offering a reimagined experience that combines shoot-’em-up excitement with RPG elements. Expect an improved map, decreased random encounter rates, a rebalanced EXP system, and more refined dialogue. The DX version will also feature additional save points and include a variety of bug fixes and quality-of-life updates.

Under the aegis of Bandai Namco Entertainment America, the Sigma Star Saga DX introduces players to the thrilling escapades of ace Earth pilot Ian Recker. The narrative arcs into side-scrolling space-shooter dynamism, seamlessly transitioning into top-down RPG-style exploration. As Recker dives deep into the conflicting territories of the invading Krill empire, he is torn between loyalty to home and the unsettling truth of the Krill empire.
With more than 15,000 weapon combinations and compelling characters likes the beguiling Krill soldier Psyme and the brilliant Earth scientist Scarlet, the game offers an engaging narrative web plotted across various alien worlds. The updates also extend to a more appealing graphical and auditory experience, balancing nostalgia with modern game mechanics.
The console and PC version of Sigma Star Saga DX also unveils new features like a concept-art gallery, a music player, multiple border art options, a rewind function, and save states representing tangible upgrades from the original GBA release. Sigma Star Saga DX is an updated version of the original Sigma Star Saga, which was published by Namco on Game Boy Advance in 2005. Coming to consoles and PC for the first time, the sci-fi adventure combines side-scrolling space-shooter action with top-down RPG-style exploration as you control ace Earth pilot Ian Recker on his mission to infiltrate the invading Krill empire. You’ll explore planets, acquire items, and gather intel on foot, then transition to side-view spaceship combat with more than 15,000 weapon combinations when enemies attack. As a double agent, Recker’s loyalties will be torn between two worlds as he encounters characters such as the provocative Krill soldier Psyme and brilliant Earth scientist Scarlet.
Fueled by Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine and ported by Mighty Rabbit Studios, the console/PC version of Sigma Star Saga DX retains the graphics, gameplay, and audio of the original GBA release, plus it adds numerous refinements including an improved map, decreased random encounter rate, rebalanced EXP system, adjusted auto-fire, additional save points, assorted bug fixes, and more.
