The prestigious game development company, Obsidian Entertainment, has recently introduced turn-based mode to their much-adored classic RPG game, Pillars of Eternity. Compatible across PC, Mac, and Linux platforms, the update can be accessed via Steam, GOG.com, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. Much like Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, users can effortlessly switch between the original real-time system with pause functionality and the newly introduced turn-based mode, contributing to enhanced gameplay personalization.

The adventure of Pillars of Eternity is primarily set in the fantastical world of Eora, specifically in the region of Dyrwood. The riveting gameplay revolves around the user acting as a ‘Watcher’, a unique entity with the ability to perceive and engage with individuals’ souls. Initially making its debut in 2015, the game was later made available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017 and eventually the Nintendo Switch in 2019. It offered a comprehensive two-part expansion named The White March. The successor to Pillars of Eternity, titled Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, surfaced in 2018 and the recent addition to the franchise, a first-person action RPG called Avowed, is set in the same captivating world.

The consistent updates to the game serve as testimony to Obsidian Entertainment’s commitment to ensuring their games are always up-to-date by considering feedback and interests from their diverse player base. The turn-based mode, in particular, offers players a more strategic approach to confrontations, allowing gameplay progression at their own pace which potentially opens the game up to a broader audience.

As Pillars of Eternity continues to evolve with innovations like the turn-based mode, it further cements its position as a timeless classic in the RPG genre, appealing to both new players and returning fans alike.
