Final Fantasy VII Revelation Arrives In April 2026

Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, launches on April 8, 2026. The game is set to release digitally for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical editions are also planned for console platforms, though players should note that every physical version will still require an additional download before the game can be played.

The announcement gives fans a much clearer picture of how Square Enix plans to roll out the finale to one of its biggest modern RPG projects. As the third and final entry in the remake trilogy, this release carries major expectations. It is not only wrapping up the reimagined journey of Cloud and his companions, but also expanding the scale of the adventure with new mechanics, additional story content, and several purchase options aimed at different kinds of players.

For those interested in physical copies, the standard edition is priced at $69.99. Day 1 versions sold through select retailers include a Magic: The Gathering promo card called “Final Fantasy Final Showdown.” Amazon’s Day 1 edition also comes with a folded poster. Players who want more collectible extras can pick up the physical deluxe edition for $99.99, which includes a mini soundtrack, an art book, a SteelBook case, and the same promo card in participating Day 1 packages.

At the high end, Square Enix is offering a Collector’s Edition for $349.99 through its own online store. This premium bundle includes everything from the deluxe edition along with a statue featuring Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth. It also comes with the Story Expansion Pass, which grants access to two post-launch story DLC releases. On top of that, buyers receive several in-game items, including the Survival Set consumable pack, Nymphwing Bracelet armor, Reclaimant Choker accessory, Risk Taker’s Choker accessory, Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia, and Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia.

Digital buyers have multiple options as well. The digital standard edition costs $69.99 and includes a pre-order bonus in the form of the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia. The digital premium edition is priced at $99.99 and adds the Story Expansion Pass, the Survival Set, the Reclaimant Choker accessory, and 24-hour early access. For players who want the fullest digital package, the digital premium plus edition costs $109.99 and includes all premium edition content, plus a digital mini soundtrack, digital art book, Nymphwing Bracelet armor, Risk Taker’s Choker accessory, and Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia.

Square Enix is also offering a Trilogy Edition for $84.99. This package gives immediate access to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, while also including the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia pre-order bonus for the new game. For newcomers who have not yet started the remake trilogy, this bundle could be one of the most appealing ways to catch up before the finale arrives.

Beyond pricing and editions, Square Enix also shared a new trailer and a gameplay deep dive, offering a better look at what players can expect from the final installment. The story picks up after the events of the previous two games and sends Cloud’s party across the world aboard the Highwind. This phase of the adventure puts the group in direct conflict with Sephiroth while the threat of Meteor looms overhead. The powerful planetary guardians known as Weapons will also play a major role, raising the stakes even further as the narrative heads toward its conclusion.

On the gameplay side, Revelation continues to build on the combat system established in the earlier entries. That means players can once again expect a blend of real-time action and strategic ATB command selection. Synergy Abilities, which were introduced in Rebirth, are returning as well. These team-based techniques helped strengthen party interactions in battle, and their inclusion here suggests that cooperative combat options will remain a central part of the experience.

One of the biggest new additions is the FITS system, short for Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear. This mechanic allows characters to equip different outfits that provide unique skills and combat advantages. According to the details shared so far, a Knight outfit improves defensive capabilities, while a Summoner outfit enables a character to attack in tandem with summoned entities. If fully developed, this system could add another meaningful layer of customization, encouraging players to experiment with builds and party roles in ways that go beyond weapons and materia setups.

Post-launch support is already part of the plan. Two story-focused DLC expansions are included in the Story Expansion Pass. They are currently titled Story DLC 1: Sephiroth and Story DLC 2: Vincent & the Turks. Square Enix expects these expansions to launch between winter 2027 and spring 2028, indicating that the company intends to keep the game active well after release.

With a firm release date, a wide range of editions, and several notable gameplay additions, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is shaping up to be a major RPG release in 2026. For longtime fans, the biggest draw will be seeing how this ambitious trilogy finally resolves its version of one of gaming’s most celebrated stories. For newcomers, the bundled trilogy option and multiplatform launch make it easier than ever to jump in before the finale lands.
