During the Capcom Next 2024 showcase, the renowned game developer confirmed that a new Resident Evil game is in the pipeline. Koshi Nakanishi, the director of the upcoming title, shared the news but did not disclose whether it’s Resident Evil 9. Nakanishi, whose prior projects include Resident Evil 5 where he served as a designer, and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, and Resident Evil 7: biohazard, which he directed, expressed his excitement about announcing more details about the game in due time.

Rumors about this game have already begun circling in gaming communities. Reports suggest that the yet-to-be-named title will be open-world, powered by the Re Engine, much like Capcom’s popular Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds. The formal announcement for the game is expected later this fall, and it is likely to be launched in 2025.

In related news, fans of the Resident Evil franchise can look forward to remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica. These classic games are reportedly next in line to receive updated versions, maintaining fans’ engagement as they await the release of the new game.
