Revealed at QuakeCon, the new release includes a wealth of upgrades and new content, with the package offering a total of 187 mission maps and 43 deathmatch maps. Some of the enhancements include online, cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players, an in-game mod browser, and improved soundtracks amongst others. The release also brings a host of new content, like TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, No Rest for the Living, an episode called Legacy of Rust created by id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames.

In terms of new features, the games offer the choice between the original and modern versions of the DOOM soundtracks, a KEX engine update, and compatibility with hundreds of community-created mods from the past 25 years. There are also improvements to existing features: upgraded visuals, better controls for mouse and keyboard, support for modern controllers, and quicker save/load support to name a few.
