Square Enix, in June 2024, launched the Final Fantasy XIV European Data Center Shadow to alleviate congestion during the Dawntrail expansion, but it’s set to shut down in late August 2024. The center housed four worlds, Innocence, Pixie, Titania, and Tycoon, all of which experienced congestion after the launch. The company is advising players to leave these worlds using the game’s travel systems and return to their Home World prior to the center’s closure. However, any remaining players will be automatically sent back to their Home Worlds during the shutdown maintenance.
In addition to European expansions, North America also saw new Final Fantasy XIV worlds added to the game in the anticipation of Dawntrail. Worlds introduced include Cuchulainn, Golem, Kraken, and Rafflesia under the Dynamis American Data center. The game, available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, will see the closure of the European Data Center Shadow and its four worlds on August 27, 2024.
