Square Enix, the video game giant, recently revealed the conclusion of the Japanese variant of War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The termination date is set for May 28, 2026, marking an end to a saga that started with its launch in November 2019. On a contrasting note, the global release of this version was already concluded in May 2025.
The announcement came to the public eye via Square Enix’s official website and social media handles. In their communication, an undertone of gratitude towards players for their continued patronage over time could be sensed. At the same time, a note of apology was clearly evident regarding the abrupt termination.
Square Enix clearly articulated that the company had been diligently working since the game’s initiation to offer an enthralling and enjoyable product. Yet, the confidence to keep churning out a game that would appease its loyal audience seemed to be fading, leading to the difficult decision to shut it down.
With this development, the purchase of any premium in-game currency stands discontinued. However, players who already possess it can carry on utilizing it till the game’s services are operational. Moreover, a compensation policy has been put in place for those users who will have unused premium currency after the game’s termination, ensuring a fair treatment of its dedicated fanbase.
War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a well-crafted tactical role-playing game, conceived as a spin-off from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Many relate its playing mechanism somewhat similar to the Tactics games. The global version of the game was inaugurated a year subsequent to the Japanese version and interestingly, the plug was pulled on it a year before the proposed termination for the Japanese version.
Despite the announcement of the termination, players in Japan can still enjoy War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius on their mobile devices until the deadline, May 28, 2026. This stands as the testament to the game’s strong following and the impact it had on the mobile gaming landscape.
