Trails In The Sky 2nd Chapter Demo Arrives

A free demo for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is now rolling out across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, giving players an early chance to experience the next entry in Nihon Falcom’s long-running RPG series before its full release. While availability may vary slightly by platform during the rollout period, the demo is intended for PS5, Switch, and Steam users, with Nintendo Switch players also able to access it on Nintendo Switch 2 through backward compatibility. There is no separate Nintendo Switch 2 demo version planned.

One of the biggest highlights of this demo release is that save data will transfer into the full game. That means players who jump in early will be able to carry their progress forward when the complete version launches, making the demo more than just a brief preview. For fans of story-driven RPGs, this is especially useful, since it allows them to begin the adventure immediately and continue seamlessly at launch.

The new preview gives players a look at the next chapter in Estelle’s journey. The story follows her as she searches for Joshua while facing the dangerous Enforcers of Ouroboros. As the stakes rise and the future of the country hangs in the balance, Estelle is forced to grow into a stronger leader. The conflict ahead appears to push her into even greater challenges, with enemies whose ambitions stretch far beyond what she first expected. For longtime followers of the series, this setup promises another emotional and high-stakes continuation, while newcomers may find the demo a useful introduction to the game’s tone, combat, and storytelling style.

Alongside the demo announcement, players also received new details on additional purchase options for the game. A Season Pass will be sold separately on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam for $24.99. This pass includes a selection of cosmetic downloadable content, similar to the approach used for the previous game. Players who enjoy customizing characters or collecting extra visual content may find it a worthwhile add-on, though it appears focused on cosmetic bonuses rather than major gameplay expansions.

For those who want everything in one package, a Digital Deluxe Edition has also been announced. This version includes the base game plus the Season Pass and will be priced at $79.99 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It offers a more convenient option for players already planning to pick up the cosmetic extras without purchasing them separately later.

The standard edition of the game will also be available at retail in North America. Preorders are priced at $59.99 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will cost $64.99. Players who buy the Nintendo Switch version will have the option to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition through a $4.99 Upgrade Pack. That pricing structure gives buyers some flexibility depending on which Nintendo hardware they currently own and whether they plan to move to the newer system.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is scheduled to launch worldwide on September 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. With the demo now available, players can get an early feel for the modern reimagining of this beloved RPG chapter and decide whether they want to continue Estelle’s adventure at release.

The release strategy makes it clear that the publisher is aiming to build momentum ahead of launch by giving fans immediate hands-on access while also outlining the available editions and DLC plans well in advance. Between transferable demo progress, multiple platform options, and upgrade paths for Nintendo players, the rollout is designed to make the transition into the full game as smooth as possible.

For RPG fans, especially those invested in Falcom’s storytelling and character-driven adventures, this demo is likely to be a major draw. It offers an early look at the next phase of a well-loved narrative, while the newly announced Season Pass and Digital Deluxe Edition provide extra options for players who want more than the standard release. As launch day approaches, the demo serves as both a preview and a practical head start for anyone eager to continue the journey.

GungHo Online Entertainment America (GOEA) announced that a demo of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is now live on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch , and Steam. The Nintendo Switch demo is playable on Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility.

Players can get a taste of the next modern reimagining in Nihon Falcom’s beloved Trails series before it launches on September 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch , and Steam. All progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game at launch.
