The creators of the critically-acclaimed dark fantasy RPG, Dread Delusion, are back with a new role-playing game known as Entropy. Lovely Hellplace, the developer, is once again collaborating with the widely renowned indie horror publisher, DreadXP. The partnership looks to bring the newly developed game to life, with a release window slated for 2026 on the PC (Steam).
The upcoming title promises an immersive gaming experience with an intriguing retro aesthetic carried forward from their first major hit. Entropy boasts its design of disturbing characters and unsettling locales, which blend perfectly to set the tone for this exciting venture. The game deviates from its predecessors real-time first-person combat, instead, it introduces tactical turn-based battles heavily inspired by classic JRPGs. In this, players will command a party of up to six mercenaries, battling against a demonic invasion of their world.
Set in a time of near-extinction, only small patches of humanity continue to exist. The world itself was not destroyed through any cataclysmic event, but a slow decay brought on by time and an insidious infertility. Aggressive beasts roam the barren lands, and grim, medieval settlements, most of which are under tyrannous rule, are the only forms of human civilization left.
The player’s journey begins in Draenog, a town where a simple visit to a theatre is disrupted by a sudden attack at the gates by demons. As a simple artist, all you have in defense is a wooden stage-prop sword, yet it falls on you to gather your fellow actors and fight off the invaders. From here, the grand adventure of saving your world from a demonic incursion starts.
Expect a diverse experience as you traverse large world maps filled with colourful characters and bustling towns, all of which are inspectable. The trip to hell begins by setting off on a quest across the ravaged lands, controlling a party of up to six members, and even getting the opportunity to hire mercenaries to fill in for any fallen comrades. Other intriguing features include tactical turn-based combat, a character development system, and a plethora of unique challenges, creatures, and treasures that breathe life into the dying world.
The beautiful retro 3D aesthetic is another pulling point for this ambitious project. Fans are already eagerly anticipating the demo of Entropy set to take stage at PAX West 2025, from August 29 to September 1. The full title is eagerly set to launch on Steam in 2026.
After the success of their open-world dark fantasy RPG, Dread Delusion, Lovely Hellplace is once again working with indie horror publisher, DreadXP, to bring their newest title, Entropy, to life. Embracing the retro aesthetic of their first major release, with a new flavor of unsettling locales and disturbing creatures, Entropy trades real-time, first-person combat for tactical turn-based battles inspired by classic JRPGs, featuring a party of up to six adventuring mercenaries faced with staving off the demonic invasion of their world.
In this dying age, only pockets of humanity remain. There was no grand apocalyptic event to speak of; only the cruel march of time and the inexplicable infertility of the world led us here. Accursed creatures stalk the barren lands between settlements, which are themselves terrible places; squalid, medieval, and mostly ruled by tyrants.
This tale begins in the town of Draenog, your theatre performance interrupted by fighting at the gates. Demons have arrived. As a simple thespian, your wooden prop sword will have to do for now; you must gather the troupe and defend yourselves!
So begins your quest as you journey across an expansive world map, littered with explorable towns filled with colorful characters. Forge your path on this expedition to hell to stop the demonic onslaught.
